Turin, Italy: The Energy Center

A four-story innovation hub equipped with advanced polygeneration systems and district heating, showcasing state-of-the-art Building Energy Management solutions for optimal energy efficiency.

Pilot Overview

Pilot Overview

The Energy Center, opened in 2017, is a four-story hub for academia, private companies, and events, featuring offices, labs, and an auditorium. It stands out for its advanced polygeneration system and district heating, which provide efficient heating and cooling through five HVAC units and radiant ceilings in every room.

Recognized with Italy's 2018 National Innovation Award, the Energy Center is equipped with a state-of-the-art Building Energy Management System (BEMS).

Solutions to be Implemented

The Turin pilot site will implement following solutions.

01

Develop an IoT platform monitoring real-time energy and flexibility

02

Interface the IoT platform with user data and with building automation and control systems (BACS)

03

Extra control and monitoring interface for BACS for reliable energy, system performance monitoring, and fault detection

04

Evaluation of energy savings potential from remote energy management by a building operator

05

Automated building operator operations with two-way data transfer; that is, from field to platform and vice versa
